"I Saw The Gargoyle Too! Interview"

The following is an unedited transcript from an audio interview done with Andy (real name) in Chicago, regarding his experience with the Gargoyle first featured in issue #1 of Unknown magazine. This recording was done 1.5 years after we his & Rons experience with the Real Gargoyle. Go to issue #1 and read the free preview title "We Saw A Gargoyle" if you are unfamiliar with this article.

In that article there was a part where Ron said that I paused, like I was blacked out. I actually wasn'y blacked out. While they were all looking at the gargoyle above me, I saw something completely different. The way its set up, there are a row of bushes and trees over to the one side, and the underpass is over here. In the trees, I saw a silouete of a man with an ax. who came out, watched. Thats when they started seeing the gargoyle above me and I'm looking over there in that direction.

Do you know who it was?

I'm not sure.

It was Henry Gloss.

No.

You don't think so?

Because I ran into that guy a little bit later. There was an old abandoned house off to the side of there, where the apartments buildings are now and of course, being kids, what do you want to do with an abondened house? You want to investigate. Three of my friends and me went in and were goofing around in the house. We have done that a number of times, and one evening when we decided to go in there and hang out and do whatever, we snuck in out little entry way and went up stairs. As we went into the living room, a man sat up with an ax which was all we saw of him. Because you see someone sitting up in an abandoned house with an ax in his hand, the house was a half story up. The first floor was like ten feet off the ground. We ran out the back door, without looking for any stairs, just out through the windows. Thats who I was looking at then I looked up and saw him, which later and up until recent days, I figured out who he is, which is one of my guardians. The guardian was there to protect me, which was why he was playing with hair and stuff. Alot of things that were also going on at the same time. That group of friends along with a number of others had done these stupid things playing with the ouji board without knowing what the heck we were doing. And we contacted different spirits, one who decided to call himself satin, and of course we laughed at that, because if satin wanted to contact somebody, he wouldn't be doing it through a ouji board. Then he switched his name to York and he spent that year irritating and atacking us at any point he could. That year we were trying the basic things teenagers do when they are finding out about the occult and spiritualization like, one night everyone tried to do the out of body experience. Which, after irritating this York creature, which I don't think anybody saw. And you irritate a creature long enough and he wants revenge, so he tried and succeeded in possessing someone.

How did you irritate him?

Just by contacting him and telling him he was a lyer from everything he told us. Basically made him feel small. If we were doing it to a person, they would have felt as small as a knat on the back of a mouse. Stupid things kids do before they know better. So he possessed "Jenny". We had to fight this creature out. We didn't know what we were doing, and I don't know if it was the power of friendship and suggestion. We had to hold her down, because she was trying to claw at and attack us. She definately didn't act like herself, so we had the feeling she was possessed.

Did she say anything?

She didn't say anything except incomprehensible, basically we were all doomed. I guess we fought it out of her by not letting her do anything. We held her down and said, "come back to us, come back". She came back and I guess I don't know what power would have helped us.

When did this happen?

Within a summer. This was the beginning of spring. Once something like this was seen, of course every one of us was instantly interested in finding out everything we could, we found out a tidbit on how to start to doing things, and of course, being the young teenagers, we turned around and "ok, we know a little bit so we can do it". We didn't know anything about saftey nets and protecting the room your in before you do anything.

When you did the Ouji board and Jenny was possessed. Did that happen before this or after this?

After.

OK, lets go between this and what happened to Jenny there. That night when you guys left the park, you were all discussing what you had seen. Did you see the gargoyle that was above you?

I saw movement, when they made me look up is when he took off.

Take it from there on, with what you can remember. Basically, Ron and I talked about it a little bit, "did you see that?" Of course we mentioned we had conflicting stories of what we saw. And the other two didn't really talk about. It was one of those things of , "ok, we were all here, we saw something, we don't need to discuss it, but lets figure out what we could have seen and what could be happening at which point we all, independently went to the library and checked out anything and everything they had on ghosts, demons, black and white magic, whatever was available in the public library. It sparked courisoties. We started talking to different things on the Ouji board. It became a Saturday night ritual.

So what happened that night. Wasn't one of the girls involved in bringing this thing into this plane?

She didn't bring the gargoyle. That we found out allot later. One person involved was playing with a group of friends of hers on trying to summon a demon or monster of some sort. They drew the pentogram on the floor, all sat around holding hands, trying to summon something. Of course, when you open a doorway, something is going to come. That scared all of them and they went running out of the room and never went back. That summer that doorway was open for a good 9 or 10 months and let anything that wanted to come through come through.

That was previous to this?

Yeah, they did that before we saw the gargoyle.

When did you find out that that doorway was opened?

About 6 or 7 months after the original story took place.

What did you do?

When I found that out? Basically had to go in do a clensing of the room, the salt around the door and windows so nothing could cross through again. The purfying the circle that had made, fixing the broken lines in the circle to make a non sealed circle and then closing the door. It is difficult to describe, its more a power of will and practice. Anything that would have seen that door from the other side that wanted to come through could come through. We spent all summer dealing with a couple of these things that did come through that door. One was York and some of his minyons that would do interesting things to keep us interested, because as long as we were interested, he had a purpose for being here.

After that night, you guys went to the library and look up what ever you could. If I remember correctly, one of the girls was the one that realized that this was because of her, she opened the doorway. I don't think she ever really realized that until we found out she had opened the doorway.

That was about 6 months later.

Yes.

Did she say when she had done that with her friends?

Yeah.

So after that night, you thought the one thing you saw was this one guy, now was he a physical thing, or was he a ghost, or your guardian.

The gargoyle, I have determined now, because I have seen him since, and he is my guardian. He is around here all the time.

What about the thing with the ax?

Those were the only times I ever saw it; in the house and in the woods. Never seen anything since, but then again, the house that he would have been haunting was torn down and built over.

Why do you think he appeared? Was he going to chase the gargoyle away, or do battle with it.

I think he actually appeared to play with us and the gargoyle then appeared to stop him. He was walking out of the bushes towards us, the others started seeing the gargoyle and he stopped and kept his disance.

Was the gargoyle a demon?

The gargoyle was a gargoyle. He's there to protect and keep evil spirits away.

I thought you said before it was a demon?

No, the other thing with an ax and York and a number of other creatures we delt with that year were demons. Gargoyles aren't demons.

Do you know where the gargoyle come from?

I have no idea. I just know he is still around.

Have you seen other gargoyles, or just that one?

Just that one. Maybe because he is mine. From everything that I have been able to figure out, he is my protector. Christians have their guardian angels and the non-Christians have gargoyles.

Maybe its in the eyes of the beholder. Maybe if you expect to see an angel, you will, and if you expect to see a gargoyle, you will. Whatever that entity is, it could change into whatever you want it to be. It has no specific shapes, it feels that, "if I am going to be his protector, then I am going to be whatever that person wants me to be." So after the gargoyle appeared that night, you guys researched everything and started playing with the Ouji board trying to find out what it was, and you started talking to other demons and Jenny got possessed. Then after that what happened? Were there any other battles, confrontations?

A number of them. I had one incident where I was driving my car and about 10 squirls ran out in front of my car and stopped in the middle of the road. Now I can't stand hurting any living thing, so I went to break to avoid hitting them and the car wouldn't stop. I swerved and almost went into Salt Creek on this one road that has a 90 degree turn right at Salt Creek. Right before I hit the creek, the car just stopped like something grabbed it. Looking back, I can assume that was the gargoyle again protecting me, and the squirls would have been whatever creatures were released into the world that were trying to get me for playing with them. There were other incidents where things happened. One day two other friends of mine were in a basement and we felt a presence show up and we instantly assumed to by York for lack of a better name, because we never really found out what his true name was, and we were using the Ouji board and telling him he has no power, he hasn't proved anything. We were like, "ok, if you are so powerful and can do all the things you say you can do, we want you to raise this box of cigarettes, bring this box of cigarettes over to us. A friend of ours who was lying on the floor, asleep, began to roll over. While he was still sleeping, his arm started moving over to the cigarettes and he tried grabbing them. At that point, my other friend, who was on the Ouji board with me grabbed his arm, pulled him up. He awoke and was like, "wha- whats going on? All that he could remember is that he had an urge to pick up the cigarettes and throw them at us. We were ridiculing York again saying that if you can't do it on your own, get out of here, we don't need you around because you aren't powerful enough to do anything. All you can do is possess innocent people. Every time someone used the Ouji board, it was almost like a cycle. The first answer of a name he would give would be satin. We would say no way in hell, because satin wouldn't be caught dead using a Ouji board. At which point he would come down to the name York, which we assumed he picked because York Road, York High School, York Township. A name out of everyone's head he could use. It was an odd summer that we delt with him.

What about the two girls? Did they have anything else happen to them on there own or was it always within the group?

It was always in a group.

When you went back to close the door up, what did you do, how did the girl who opened it feel?

I don't want to say how we closed it without giving it away, because someone reading it could reverse the process and say, "oh lets try this".Opening and closing are real close, just twist of words to close. We found out a little knowledge is a very dangerous thing. I went in, did a ritual and closed the door. You have to draw something and then it was almost like it was an out of body experience thing where I was sitting there but part of me was physically closing an iron door.

Were there any confrontations when you closed the door?

No. Anything that was on the other side that wanted to get through would have seen something happening and stayed away and anything on this side would have been like, "ok we have to find another place."

After that, what happened?

After we closed the door, a couple of friends and I, independently of each other tried to hunt down these creatures that got through the door. If we heard of something happening, we would go there and try to find what it was.

Was it you and the others who were with you that summer.

No. All those people at the end of that summer when everyone said, "ok, we are done dealing with this and don't want to deal with anything that happened that summer. A few of them refuse to acknowledge anything that happened. They bacame athiest so they don't have to acknowledge anything and say it was all a hypnotic sugestion thing going on. A couple of them became wicken, a couple went back into Christianity full force and a couple of us have been trying to find out as much information as possible.

Ron only thought there were 4 of you, were there actually 8 of you?

The night we were there, there were 5 of us. The group that was dealing with all the other things that were going on that summer, there was like between 8 to 12 jumping in and out who was dealing with what. Ron wasn't involved in that.

In your search for the demons to get them back, do you know any experiences you ran into some of the things that happened on the way to your quest to find them? Were you successful?

Yeah, I was successful, another friend of mine was successful and another one was never really heard from since. It was the one who opened the door, "Sandy". She moved away got married and never heard from since.

When you went to find these creatures, what did you do to find them and get them back to where they came from?

It was basically because I was still very inexperienced. I researched as much as I could on different types of banishments and different spells on that and I did the same thing I did all summer by egging them on, teasing them, making them come to me so I would deal with them on my terf. It was going into almost a subconscious state of battle like a chess board in nothingness. You are on a field of battle. Two opponents come up on the board and fight and the stronger of the two will win. Thats how I took care of them. When I won I bannashed them away, and at the times I didn't win, I got the hell out of there.

So there were experiences where you didn't win?

Yeah, I got out of there, going back into my body, my saftey area.

SIDE TWO OF STORY

So Rene's seen it? Any specific thing it was doing?

Just checking things out. Couriosity. Then it was checking her out, I think because, it was rignt when she and I started dating, so it was one of those things of making sure she's safe.

What about now? When was the last time you have seen it?

Probably about almost a year ago.

What happened?

It was checking out the apartment, checking her out and making sure everything was safe. And now that I live in my own apartment and I've put up shields against things coming in and purified the apartment against anything of the evil intent. Here it really has nothing it has to watch. This is a safe area. But he's always out there. We've never really seen it, but whenever we feel there are some bad things outside the building, that we don't want around, I do a call for him and the bad things disapear, the run away like something scared them off.

What was it that I saw that night at Rons that went by the window?

I don't remember seeing exactly it was. I can't remember how you described it.

It was tall big and hunched over. It went by the light in the street. It could have been him. Just because of the story and meeting you and as always happens whenever you are talking about things, they show up because there is something going on.

The one guy with the ax, you haven't seen him since?

No.

That was a demon?

I would think so.

Because it took a human form?

Yes.

I am curious, because Henry Gloss and his wife were burried under that moselium. I am thinking he would have come out because he owned all that land. and to have some type of creature on top of his moselium he might have felt threatened, "this is my area, my plane, leave."

I could see that if it was something evil, but something good, I can't see him defending an area just because there were ghosts and spirits there before he moved there and more after.

Is there anyone else who has seen the gargoyle besides your friends, wife and you?

Just our other roomate.

Has it ever appeared at night?

Not really, just basically there for the first month it was around.

I wonder why more people don't see gargoyles?

Well, you have to be attuned to it. Alot of people, even if they see them, they ignore them.

Because of all of this, is that way you got into dragons and all that stuff?

Yeah, the dragons, contrary to the stories, throughout history have been protectors. There is a possiblity of them being dinasours that never died out and the possibility of them being the mystical creatures they're claimed to be. Nostrodamus and all the different prophets who prophisized the end of the world as we know it, that could be that they are all coming back, and the reason people are seeing more and more of them now is because they are on their way back.
